I love Sierra Vista. I really do. I’m actually one of those old people that thinks Sierra Vista might be on the verge of “too big.” Growing up here, I never lacked for anything to do and now that the town has grown, there are even more opportunities to keep busy! This time of year is by far the busiest in the region. We have perfect weather and every festival and fair wants to get a piece of it. I thought I’d collect up a few links & dates to help you discover new Fall festivities for you & your family–especially since so many in our community are here with the military and may not know all the places to look!!
Starting with this weekend:
Head to Willcox to Apple Annie’s Apple Harvest Celebration!
From their website: “Celebrate the peak of the apple season with tree-ripened Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Rome Beauty apples. Experience the fun of picking your own apples, or select from already picked apples. Come early to enjoy the delicious “All You Can Eat” pancake breakfast served with hot apple topping or cider syrup, served each day from 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM. Apple-smoked burger lunches will be served from 11:30 AM – 3 PM. Free wagon rides will take you to the orchards for picking; Asian pears will also be available for picking. Homemade apple pies are baked fresh daily, and don’t miss the delicious “apple crumb pie ice cream”, made in our Amish ice cream freezer. Hot roasted sweet corn will be available at our farm location.:
If you prefer to stay in town, go check out the Chamber of Commerce’s Home & Business Expo at the mall! Check them out HERE.
OKTOBERFEST!! Right here in town! This is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy community, great music, and fantastic food! This is a family friendly event and it’s right here in town!
Santa Cruz County Fair! Just a short drive to the gorgeous Sonoita!! This is a small town fair that is cozy and perfect for young families! You only need a few hours to see the whole fair. It’s a beautiful location and a old fashioned fun!
Cochise County Fair! This fair is a bit bigger and includes a college rodeo and a pretty awesome carnival too. There are fantastic food vendors and a pretty impressive display of animals raised by local youth for 4-H & FFA. Head over to Douglas and enjoy the fair! They have some specials including: Thursday is $1 Seniors, Friday is $1 Students, and Saturday is $1 Military day!!
If you prefer to stay in town it is also time for the Family Fun Fest!
Then we roll right into October and it doesn’t slow down!!
Please check out the links, pack up an ice chest, and make some fantastic family memories this year!
And because what fun is a blog without a picture… Here is my 4 year old getting ready for his first time Mutton Busting at the Sonoita Rodeo last weekend.
